Background

Professor Crane is a skilled business economist and highly regarded economics professor for more than twenty years in San Diego. She currently teaches at both Point Loma Nazarene University and Southwestern College, where she won the SWC Teaching Excellence Award.  At Southwestern she has had many roles including serving as an Academic Senator, tenure review committee member, member of hiring committees, Program Review lead, and SLO coordinator for economics. 

Concurrently with her academic work, Professor Crane has been an author and an accuracy checker for Cengage Learning and Prentice-Hall Publishers. She is the author of six editions of the test bank for a popular principles of economics textbook, as well as other supplements such as online practice quizzes and instructor’s manuals. She has been sought out as a reviewer for numerous economics textbooks and their supplements, providing written comments and suggestions for publishers. 

Prior to her academic career, Crane worked as a Financial Analyst and Economist for San Diego Gas and Electric Company and for Home Federal Savings and Loan, with an emphasis in performing detailed financial analyses on new and existing products, services, and functions throughout the organization, and preparing written and oral reports for senior management. She developed and implemented a branch purchase/relocation profitability model and interest rate risk model (written in FORTRAN and BASIC) and also has capabilities with SPSS analytic software. Projects included research on regional economic forecasting and searching for new investment options for employee savings plans and investment analysis and portfolio review.

Professor Crane holds a M.S. in Economics from Texas A & M University, a B.A. in Economics from University of California San Diego, and has completed most of her course work for her Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A & M University.

She has been married for thirty years to husband, Dan, the athletic director for Poway High School and has two grown daughters.
