Research

Dr. Perry's research interests lie in the broad area of methodology development in the field of organometallic chemistry.  Specifically, Dr. Perry's current research is in the area of iron-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of aryl chlorides and alkyl Grignard reagents.  These C-C bond forming reactions are important synthetic tools, and a lot of research involving palladium-based catalysts has been reported.  Iron, however, would be a more desirable catalyst as it is less expensive and less toxic than palladium and more environmentally benign.
