Department of Family & Consumer Sciences
With a major in family and consumer sciences, you will be prepared for the fields of nutrition, human development, family and community health, interior design, textiles, management, fashion merchandising, and child and adolescent development.
Our department stresses the importance of a multicultural perspective, teaching the importance of serving in diverse environments, and adapting to an ever-changing society. You will get a theory-based and practical education as you address the relationships between individuals, families, communities, and the environments in which they function.
We have also met the rigorous standards of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) to offer a fully accredited program in dietetics for students wanting to become registered dietitians (RDs).
