Athletic Training Education Program

THE ATHLETIC TRAINING EDUCATION PROGRAM (A.T.E.P.)

Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are recognized by the American Medical Association as Allied Healthcare professionals who "provide a variety of services, including injury prevention, assessment, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation after physical injury or trauma".  Athletic Trainers collaborate with physicians to optimize the activity and normal function of patients and clients.

The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at PLNU is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).  A testament to the major’s quality, the program has competitive admission. Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree in athletic training, students are eligible to take the NATA-BOC certification examination. When you pass the national examination, you’ll be a certified athletic trainer.

For more information on the athletic training major contact Dr. Nicole Cosby, ATEP Director at (619) 849-2901 or NicoleCosby@pointloma.edu

We are pleased to announce continuing accreditation by the caATe through the 2018-2019 academic year!
