Raising Rigor in Reading: Complex Texts in the English Classroom
Do you need more strategies to teach complex texts more effectively?
Register today for a morning workshop to be held at PLNU:
Saturday October 11, from 8:00-noon.
Guest presenter Nancy Frey will draw on her experiences as a San Diego teacher-leader who implements practices to raise rigor in schools around the state. Annotation, text-dependent questions, close reading, fostering text-based discussion... this session promises to be chock full of practical information grounded in cutting-edge research! Attendees are encouraged to bring a rigorous text from their own teaching for a mid-morning sharing session.
You will leave with lots of ideas you'll be able to implement the following week.

Past Event - LJML Homecoming Reunion and Creative Writing Tea
In November, the LJML Homecoming Reunion and Creative Writing Tea brought alumni, current students and faculty together for a midmorning treat of writing at its best!
Drs. Rick Hill, Michael Clark and Bettina Pedersen shared recent works as well as LJML students past and present. The scones, sweet clotted cream, cookies, fruit and teas were a delight!
