His areas of specialty are the Twentieth century American novel, California literature, and creative nonfiction with an emphasis on the New Journalists.

A former journalist himself, Clark’s work has most recently appeared in the publications Fast Forward and Coach’s Midnight Diner, and he is serving as the guest fiction editor for the next edition of the journal Relief.

His interests outside of work include basketball, popular culture, music, and the unintentional addition of children to his family. He and his wife Heather just celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary and have 3 children, Klarissa, Holden, and Judah.
