Danette White teaches bassoon lessons full-time at studios in Poway and El Cajon, California, which are in the San Diego area.  She also conducts the Bazooka Blasters! Bassoon Band, coaches woodwinds at numerous middle and high schools and serves on the adjunct faculty of Point Loma Nazarene University  as well as accompanying her students on piano in competitions and recitals.

Previously Danette taught band and choir in North Dakota, band and orchestra with the San Diego Unified School District, and chamber music as a member of the adjunct faculty at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California.

Last summer she completed a revision of the Bassoon Technique Syllabus, and Bassoon Repertoire Syllabus as part of the recent Certificate of Merit (CM) Wind Syllabus revision--for which she was also on the committee.  The new edition was published in summer 2011 by the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC).  She is also the CM Wind Chairman for the San Diego Branch MTAC, and responsible for the annual wind evaluations.

In January 2011, Danette presented a session at the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association Conference (SCSBOA) entitled, "Double Reeds: Eliminating the Mystery."   In June she attended the International Double Reed Society Conference in Tempe, Arizona.

Danette has performed as a substitute bassoonist with the San Diego Opera, San Diego Symphony Pops, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and Starlight Theater.  She is a former member of the Grossmont Symphony and the TICO Orchestra, and was a featured soloist performing Weber's Andante and Rondo Ongarese, and Concerto in F Major.  Danette has also played in concert with the Moody Blues and Michael Crawford during their San Diego tour stops.

In addition to earning her music degrees Danette has attended the Music Academy of the West and the Music at Penn's Woods Festival.  Her bassoon teachers have included Ruth Dahlke, Darryl Durran, Arlen Fast, Dennis Michel, Robert Williams, and Hugh Cooper.

In 2008, Danette was honored to return to The University of Michigan to perform in a bassoon quartet as part of the Memorial Recital for Hugh Cooper.
