Pat Pfiffner has performed in virtually every kind of professional music situation. His classical credits include the San Diego Chamber Orchestra (Principal timp/perc. since 1985), the San Diego Symphony, (extra since 1972) San Diego opera (since 1983), Joffrey ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Moscow ballet. He has recorded with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, the Rock group "Yes" and has done numerous radio and TV jingles as well as movie soundtracks. The list of celebrities Mr. Pfiffner has backed reads like a who's who in the entertainment industry. He has performed with Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope, Yul Brynner, Johnny Mathis, Lena Horne, Henry Mancini, Tony Bennett, Luciano Pavarotti, Andre Bocelli, George Burns, Don Rickles, Phyllis Diller, Natalie Cole, Mickey Rooney, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme, Robert Goulet, the Fifth Dimension, and The Moody Blues - to name a few. Mr. Pfiffner is equally comfortable at a drumset playing big band jazz, playing a Broadway show, or working in the percussion section of a symphony orchestra. He is the first call percussionist for touring Broadway shows in San Diego performing in shows such as “Wicked,” “The Producers,” and “Mary Poppins,” as well as being the resident drummer/percussionist for Starlight Musical Theatre and was in the pit for the Broadway bound "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "How to Succeed in Business" with Mathew Broderick at the La Jolla Playhouse. He has also done numerous shows at the Old Globe theatre. He is on the faculty of Point Loma Nazarene University and San Diego Mesa College and is the director of the Grand Pacific Band, which opened the San Diego Symphony’s summer pops season in 2004 under his direction. Mr. Pfiffner is profiled in the 2005-10 editions of Marquis Who's Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. He is married to Linda, his wife of 39 years and has two sons, James and Jeff and three grandchildren.
