Multiple Subject/Single Subject Clear Credential

Program Overview

This 12-unit credential is for teachers working in private or charter schools or those teaching in public school without access to an approved BTSA/Induction program. The 2042 Clear Credential requires four 3-unit advanced courses to be taken AFTER completion of the preliminary credential and can be completed in two semesters.  If Induction is verified as unavailable as defined in regulation by an employer, then a Clear Credential program may be completed and candidates may apply to the California Commission on Credentialing (CTC) for the Clear Teaching Credential for the Ryan or 2042 Credential. This coursework can be applied toward fulfillment of a master's degree in Teaching and Learning.

  • Currently employed teachers who hold a Preliminary California Teaching Credential and do not have access to an Induction/BTSA program through their school districts.

  • Total Semester Units: 12 semester units
  • Format: Combination of face-to-face and distance learning. In-class meetings are from 4:30-9 p.m., one night per week for a period of 8 weeks.
  • Completion time: 2 semesters 
  • Location: Regional Centers in Mission Valley-San Diego, Bakersfield, and Inland Empire.
  • Tuition and fees: Please visit our Graduate Student Financial Services website.
  • Fieldwork: Apply learnings to your own teaching venue with imput from a mentor teacher and university supervisor.

Education Specialist Clear Credential

Program Overview

This 12-unit Education Specialist Clear Credential builds on the foundation of the Preliminary Education Specialist Credential. Coursework is strategically aligned with BTSA Induction requirements to address Clear Credential proficiencies. The curriculum for this Clear Credential provides an Added Authorization for Special Education (AASE) for a deeper specialization in contemporary issues in this field.  These Clear Credential units can be applied toward the Master of Arts in Special Education.
