Minor: Spanish

Age: 20

Career Goal: Missionary Doctor

City, Country, School: Studying at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Bolívar (ITB) in Guayaquil, Ecuador through the Knowledge Exchange Institute (KEI)

Why did you choose this location? I chose Ecuador with the hopes of learning the Spanish language and speaking it confidently when I leave the country. Not only this, but my program offers a medical internship in Ecuador which goes hand in hand with exactly what I want to do in the future. I hope to gain a better understanding of how medicine is performed in a different cultural context and ultimately engage in relationships with the Ecuadorian people.

What are you most excited to do while abroad?  I can’t wait for all the adventures Ecuador has to offer. Zip-lining in the Andes Mountains, white water-rafting in the Amazon River, hiking the Cotopaxi volcano, seeing the Inca Ruins, exploring Cuenca, Quito, and traveling all over Latin America! I can’t put into words all the things I’m excited for!
What is your favorite item from home that you are bringing? My Spanish bible. Finally I’ll be able to put it to good use!
