In August 2005, a group of 20 students, 1 staff and 3 community members, met in Cooper Music Building and chose the name, “PLNU Voices in Praise Gospel Choir.” The Gospel Choir was organized in the fall of 2005 as a co-curricular activity under the Office of Multicultural Student Services (MOSAIC).

As rehearsals continued, enrollment grew to 35 members by the end of the semester. Current membership for spring 2006 reached 53 members, (43 students, 2 staff members, 7 community members, and 1 alumnus). VIP has performed in PLNU Christmas Staff Chapel (Dec. 2005), MOSAIC Christmas Banquet (Dec. 2005), Campus Chapel (Feb. 2006), and BSU Black History Month Banquet (Feb. 2006). The first annual Spring Choir Concert was the culminating event of the 2005-2006 academic year.
