Student Handbook for 2012-13
Welcome to Point Loma Nazarene University.
In order to truly understand an institution, you must understand its purpose. Point Loma Nazarene University is committed to faith and learning – the uniting of heart and mind. We want students not only to accumulate credits toward a degree but to become individuals who think and behave intentionally as Christians in all of their endeavors.
Jesus presents this challenge of the fullness of life in His greatest commandment: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37-38)
A natural outcome of combining faith and learning is the desire to serve others and to make a difference. That’s why our university mission can be summarized as “To Teach, Shape, and Send.”
What better way to teach, shape, and send than through community – one that worships, studies, plays, questions, challenges and encourages one another. That’s what Point Loma Nazarene University is about. It’s why I love this place, and it’s why I’m so honored to welcome you here.

Positively,
Bob Brower, Ph.D.
President
