Help incarcerated teenagers reconnect with their families through the joy of reading.

Juvenile Prison Ministry volunteers with a non-profit organization called Reading Legacies. Reading Legacies mission is to unite inmates with their families back at home through the joy of reading.  The organization is not Christian-based, so when we go every week, it's not necessarily to talk about Jesus.  Instead, our goal is to show the love of Christ through our actions.  But of course, if the topic comes up, we're not going to ignore it!  A lot of the incarcerated juveniles have kids, and most of them have younger siblings, nieces, nephews, or cousins.  However, they have no way of seeing them because no one under 18 is allowed in the facility.  We try to bring them together!  We help them unite with their families while being physically separated!  When inmates participate in our program, they have a chance to send home a book and a DVD recording of them reading.  We are always encouraged by the positive responses!
