PLNU alum Brian Postlewait invites us to learn from and contribute to Mission Possible (MP), a community of transformation in Canada’s poorest neighborhood.  MP is a Christian organization that provides jobs and builds community through innovative businesses.

Mission Possible provides meaningful work opportunities to people with challenging histories and barriers to workforce reintegration.  They do restoration ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.  Their goal is to help provide real work experience for others, so we aren’t going to take over MP employee roles and defeat the purpose.  Instead, we will be there to build relationships, encourage, and learn from their mission, people, and neighborhood.  There is so much for us to learn about God’s heart for the city and the poor.

One of Mission Possible’s newest business ventures is art studio space.  Artistic students could come to help give ideas and enliven the space.  Brian also appreciates when business and entrepreneurial students come to share ideas for strengthening the businesses.

There are many other great organizations ministering in Downtown Eastside and the team will likely have opportunities to visit and learn from a variety of approaches to urban compassionate ministry.

Consider this team if you want to experience and learn ways that you may be involved in building, supporting, and leading recovery ministries in your own neighborhood.
