Mexico
Pastor Josué Villatoro López invites us to three cities in the culturally diverse south to partner with Mexican mission team members in construction, compassionate ministry, children’s ministry, and possibly some community health outreach.
Mexico’s two southernmost states are extremely different from the northern border regions many of us are familiar with. They are culturally diverse and rich with Mayan history. This trip, by road, is 2,268 miles and 40 hours from San Diego and it is a world apart culturally. The church is strong and dynamic in Chiapas. We are excited that they have invited us to minister with them.
Remember that our plans are always flexible. Here are the initial plans from our host:
The group will be working in three different locations, one week in each place. The first week they would be in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, working in the outskirts of the city, where there is poverty and where there is mission work from the Church of the Nazarene. The host church will be the Second Church of Tuxtla Gutierrez, a congregation located in the center of the city, with about two hundred members and the necessary infrastructure to meet the needs of the team.
The second week would be in Villaflores, Chiapas, working in neighborhoods located 10 minutes from the city, where there is also mission work from the Church of the Nazarene. Our host church would be the First Church of Villaflores, located in the heart of the city, with about six hundred members, and strong leadership skills it has full capability to help the team develop their work in the best way possible.
The third week will be in Chahuites, Oaxaca, working in this city. The host church would be the First Church of Chahuites, located in the center of the city it has the capability to receive and host the team.
At the end of the third week, the team will return for a day of sightseeing in Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, and depart from the airport in Tuxtla Gutierrez.
