Lent Giving Campaign
Selma Strong: PLNU Lent Giving Campaign 2016
Selma is a city in Alabama that played a vital role in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. The famous Selma bridge crossing took place here in March 1965 on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. In March 2015, PLNU students and faculty traveled to Selma on the Civil Rights Pilgrimage to be part of the 50th Anniversary Bridge Crossing Jubilee. This PLNU delegation also wondered how Point Loma Nazarene as a university community could tangibly join in what God is doing in Selma today, specifically in the area of education. For this year's Lent Giving Campaign, we have partnered with Southside High School to help them raise money to remodel their weight room. Both Southside High and the PLNU community have committed to financially supporting this endeavor.
Your Selma Strong Lent offering is empowering a local high school by strengthening their efforts to improve facilities by rehabilitating the weight room for continued long-term use by current and future students.
Want to help plan and run the campaign? You are invited to join the Selma Strong steering committee, a small group of passionate students and staff members that meets Mondays during Lent from 5:45-7:00 pm in Robinson Conference Room (third floor of Nicholson commons). Ideas, input, and enthusiasm are welcome!
