2011 Ensenada Camp
Ensenada & Maneadero, Mexico
Description: Our home base for the week is a beach camp in Ensenada where everyone will sleep in tents, eat common meals, and meet in small groups. Ministry outreach will take place in the hills of Maneadero, a community within Ensenada populated by indigenous groups. Together, we will run ministry fairs which offer needed good and services to the community. Service and conversations take place within teams of students from different churches & countries.
It's been four years since we've held a camp in Ensenada. We will travel down the coast by bus with U.S. and Mexican youth and young adults to join with congregation members in the Ensenada area.
Dates: June 20 - 27, 2011
Cost: $350 covers all costs for the week
Should I apply to be a Leader or a Participant?
Participants...
will prepare for the camp week by attending several joint trainings with LoveWorks participants throughout the semester. Topics covered include: cross-cultural awareness, understanding economic differences, and international travel. All participants will be expected to contribute to group discussions, work hard, and remain flexible.
Leaders...
will attend the same joint trainings, as well as meet separately for specific trainings. To apply as a leader, you must have either attended S.A.L.T. Mission Camps previously or have had significant cross-cultural experience. You will be contacted for an additional interview. Your responsibilities are: providing guidance in teams and small group discussions, setting the example for cultural sensitivity, and assisting with logistics.
The application process is the same for both participant and leader interest.
