What happens on a S.A.L.T. Mission Camps trip?

High School students from all across PLNU's educational region (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Southern Nevada, & Hawaii), along with their youth sponsors rally at PLNU.  We then depart to our destinations.  Upon arrival, Mexican youth and sponsors from will meet us.  We will set up a home base camp, eat authentic food prepared by members of the nearby church, minister together through various means during the day, meet in small groups to debrief, and worship together in a common service at night.

When are the trips this year?

Monday, June 20 - Monday, June 27, 2011

Can I go on a LoveWorks trip in addition to a S.A.L.T. Mission Camps trip?

The dates don't overlap, so you may participate in multiple International Ministries programs.  Please though consider prayerfully your ability to give to multiple intense ministry situations and the financial and time cost of participating.

Do I need to speak Spanish to attend?

Spanish is not necessary.  All communication will be translated into both languages throughout the week

What is the difference between applying as a "leader" or a "participant"?

All those who attend from PLNU are considered "participants", and will be expected to give fully before and throughout the trip.  This involves contributing to small group discussions with energy and attention, thoughtfully considering the topics introduced, engaging with other members of camp, working hard, and remaining flexible.  Leaders will be interviewed individually and selected based on their ability to facilitate group activities, conversations, and service projects.  There is a limited number of leadership positions, and those not chosen to lead may be placed as participants in the program.  Both leaders and participants will attend four trainings along with LoveWorks participants.  Leaders will attend additional trainings as a core team.

Does it cost anything?

The cost is a $350 program fee which covers all expenses for the trip.

How do I apply?

  • Apply directly through our on-line application by November 5th.
  • Once your application is accepted and processed, you will receive email notification from our office to schedule an interview appointment.
  • You will receive an email by November 23rd confirming your leadership position.
