Tuition Freedom Day
Did you know that tuition currently covers only 75% of the education costs for a PLNU student? In fact, never in the history of our university has tuition covered the entire cost of a student’s education. So how is the remaining portion covered? Through generous financial support PLNU receives as alumni contributions, donor gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation support. That’s right! It happens through gifts, both large and small, from people just like you.
Whether or not we realized it, each one of us who attended this university was helped by others who gave to subsidize the cost of our education. To celebrate this and raise awareness among students and alums, the Alumni Association, ASB, and Student Senate host Tuition Freedom Day. This has become an annual event to highlight the difference made in students' lives, through generous alumni support, and the impact we can make in the lives of countless future students through our faithful giving.
FREEDOM IS COMING! - Tuition Freedom Day 2014
To celebrate and thank PLNU alumni & donors, the Alumni Association is partnering with Student Senate, the ASB Board of Directors, Sodexo and Bartell Hotels to host the 6th annual “Tuition Freedom Day” on March 19, 2014 - 75% of the way through the school year! After Chapel, students can enjoy free coffee and pastries in the ARC while writing thank you notes to alumni, , churches, corporations, foundations and other donorswho have contributed to their education. In 2013, we received 518 thank you notes! Can we top that? In exchange for one thank you note, each student wil receive the latest TFD t-shirt, designed by Cody Chase, ASB Director of Communications.
How can you help? In addition to prayer and volunteer support, a crucial area of university support is the Alumni Giving Rate. This rate is the percentage of alumni who have given a gift of any size to the university between July 1 and June 30. When seeking financial support from foundations and corporate donors, the university is asked to provide its alumni giving rate. US News and World Report also uses this figure when ranking institutions across the country. In both instances, the Alumni Giving Rate is seen as a measure of alumni satisfaction. So a gift of any size makes a difference because it raises our Alumni Giving Rate. If you haven’t given this year, please consider giving a gift by June 30 to help raise our Alumni Giving Rate!
PLNU has partnered with Bartell Hotels to provide a discounted rate to PLNU Family & Friends. For more info, or to make a reservation, Click Here!
