Dr. Bettina Tate Pedersen Speaks at Christians for Biblical Equality Conference

Date:
Monday, June 24, 2013

July 26-28, PLNU professor of literature Dr. Bettina Tate Pedersen will present a workshop sesson entitled "Reading the Bible, Reading Literature: Becoming a Feminist Christian Reader of the Bible" at the Christians for Biblical Equality international conference in Pittsburgh.

According to their website, "Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) is a nonprofit organization of Christian men and women who believe that the Bible, properly interpreted, teaches the fundamental equality of men and women of all ethnic groups, all economic classes, and all age groups, based on the teachings of Scriptures such as Galatians 3:28:

'There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.'"

Pedersen will present one of "twenty-two sessions [that] will consider how misinterpreting Scripture contributes to a worldview that devalues women and fosters injustice."
