Dr. Ken Martin, professor of chemistry and department chair, has been a primary author on two recently published scientific articles. He and PLNU student Bradly Baer collaborated with Dr. Allan Nishimura and his students at Westmont College for research purposes. Their first article, “The Effect of Substitution on the Fluorescence Property on a-Alumina and its Application to Energy Transfer and Excimer Formation,” was a chapter in a book that summarized a number of studies on the optical properties of substituted naphthalene compounds.
The second article, published in the Journal of Spectroscopy, is entitled “Laser-Induced Fluorescence Decay of 2-Methyl-, 2-Methoxy-, and 2 Ethylnaphthalene on a-Alumina during Temperature Programmed Desorption.”
