PLNU Students Will Take Alternative Spring Break
(San Diego, Calif. – February 1, 2011) – In March, students from Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) will officially begin spring break. Instead of heading for the beach, some students will be building sustainable buildings in Rosarito, Mexico.
Students, staff, faculty, university president Dr. Bob Brower, and a few members of PLNU’s cabinet will join Lazarian World Homes to construct a new sanctuary and parsonage at Rosario Nazarene Church out of Lazarian Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) polystyrene foam blocks. The polystyrene foam blocks, which can be filled with concrete after they are placed, provide effective, low-cost, eco-friendly structures.
Lazarian World Homes was born out of a partnership involving PLNU, Baylor University, and Armenian Relief and Development Agency. Lazarian World Homes builds environmentally conscious, affordable, and long-lasting shelters all over the world.
