Professors' Work Presented at Christian Business Faculty Association Conference
PLNU was well-represented at the recent Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA) annual conference held at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
On June 28, Becky Havens, Ph.D., professor of economics, presented a paper she co-authored with Ruth Heinrichs, PLNU's director of institutional effectiveness. The paper was entitled, "Familiar or Different? Gendered Aspects of Leadership in Times of Economic Crisis."
As a member of the CBFA board, Havens also prepared and presented the organization's awards ceremony at the conference.
Rob Gailey, Ph.D., director of PLNU's Center for International Development and associate professor of business also presented a paper -- and was recognized with an award for his work. His paper, entitled "Collaborations Across Campus and Across Town: Preparing College Students to Engage in Social Innovation Careers," was named "Best Pedagogical Paper" at the conference.
"Less than 10 percent of the original [paper] submissions qualified for consideration of awards," said program director Tim Redmer. "The award nomination papers were sent to a different group of five reviewers for consideration of four different awards. The individual paper had to be recommended for a specific award by at least 3 reviewers. Rob was one of just three authors who received an award. This was quite an accomplishment."
