Women's Soccer Ends a Successful Season

DECATUR, Ala. – This week, the PLNU women's soccer team reached their second NAIA “Final Four” and took on No. 7-ranked Concordia of Oregon in a semifinal match on Friday. The last time that PLNU reached the semifinals was in 2009. 

Interestingly, the same four teams that were in 2009’s Final Four made up this year’s class: PLNU, APU, Concordia and Lee.

But fifth-seed PLNU suffered a lopsided 4-0 loss to No. 8 Concordia (OR) in the semifinals of the NAIA National Championships Friday afternoon at the Jack Allen Recreational Complex. The loss was just the second of the year for the Sea Lions which end the year with a 19-2-4 overall mark.

The Sea Lions end the tournament as one of the third-place finishers in the team’s final year as a NAIA member. PLNU will move to the NCAA DII in the fall of 2012.
