Since 2001, over 90 percent of students who have applied for admission to medical, dental, and veterinary medicine have been admitted.  Acceptance rate for biology and chemistry students applying to graduate (M.A., M.S., and Ph.D.) programs is over 95 percent.  The national average for admission into medical school during this same period is much lower. PLNU is very proud of the success of its students. Our pre-med program is very rigorous, and as a result, PLNU students score well in standardized tests. The rigor of the courses, together with the amount of personal attention that students receive from faculty is probably the basis of student success. PLNU is especially proud of its success given that its admission's policy is not as selective as that of many other colleges and universities.

Like most colleges and universities, PLNU does not have a major that is called the pre-med major.  Medical schools generally prefer that a student interested in proceeding to the M.D. degree major in a specific discipline.  In general, pre-med students at PLNU major in either biology, chemistry or both (biology/chemistry joint major).  The majority of pre-med students take the joint major.

Current PLNU students interested in being added to the pre-med list, fill out the brief form on the Pre-Med Interest List page.
