Master of Arts in Religion Program Unknown (or inaccessible) property:CurrentPageVersion.PageID

Our Master of Arts in Religion Program offers critical academic study in a personal setting. Whether you want to teach or study, preach or write, change careers or enrich your personal life, the M.A. in religion program can help you engage Scripture and theology in new and challenging ways. As a master’s degree student in religion at PLNU, you will learn academic skills, such as data analysis, research techniques, and biblical scholarship in a personal setting. The program offers individual attention and flexibility for personalized study, including the opportunity to complete a thesis and oral examination.

While the M.A. in religion is a highly intellectual program, you will appreciate the applicability of what you learn. These experiences will give you a foundation of knowledge for advanced study and prepare you for a variety of career fields. Some of our graduates are currently in the ministry. Others teach at Christian schools or work in higher education. Many of our graduates opt to continue their studies at theological seminaries or in doctoral programs in theology, biblical studies, church ministry, or philosophy. Coursework from the program can be applied toward a Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

Program Details

With two available concentrations, theology and biblical studies, the program consists of six core M.A. courses and four elective courses chosen from the School of Theology and Christian Ministry for a total of 36 units, including the completion of a thesis and oral examination. All courses run on the PLNU semester calendar and must be taken in residence.
