This series undertakes a reflective and constructive examination of American evangelicalism, as illuminated by the dynamics of the movement in general and the realities of a specific case study.  American evangelicalism is a complex religious, culture, and political entity, whose influence remains prevalent even as its identity remains somewhat in flux.  In these lectures, we consider the historical development, contemporary manifestations, and potential future(s) of American evangelicalism.  We also look to the Church of the Nazarene, one of the denominations that have stood within the broader evangelical movement, as a case study.  Organized in 1908, now approaching its centennial, this church's self-reflection may further illuminate the realities and complexities of American evangelicalism past, present, and future.
