Brenda Martin, M.M.

Assistant Professor of Music

Brenda Martin holds a B.S. in music education from Trevecca Nazarene University, a M.M.E. from Austin Peay State University, and a M.M. in piano performance from Arizona State University. She also completed all the coursework toward a D.M.A. in music from Arizona State in 1994. Having taught piano at the university level since 1982, first at Trevecca Nazarene University and then at Northwest Nazarene University, Martin joined the piano faculty of Point Loma Nazarene University in 1998. In addition to her graduate work in piano, she has also pursued studies in the Alexander technique and in jazz and has written a number of hymn arrangements and original jazz compositions. In addition to performing with the faculty jazz trio, Martin performs as a part of the local chamber ensemble, “The Seaside Quartet” and participates in the “Piano Extravaganza,” a yearly piano ensemble program consisting of PLNU piano faculty and friends.
