Jimmy Lundgren is back for his second season as an assistant coach with the Sea Lions. He will continue his duties as the recruiting coordinator, along with playing a pivotal role in running practices, match preparation, and game-time decisions.
Lundgren came to PLNU prior to the 2014 season with a plethora of experience for such a young coach. He helped guide PLNU to a 19-9 record and a third place finish in the PacWest Conference standings (16-4). PLNU was listed on the AVCA poll all season, reaching the top spot in the "others receiving votes" category as the unofficial No. 26 team in country. Lundgren also helped guide Savannah Wedemeyer and Heather Leavitt to AVCA honorable mention All-American selections, marking the first time PLNU student-athletes had ever earned All-American honors in NCAA Division II.
Before coming to PLNU, Lundgren served as a volunteer assistant with the University of Minnesota in 2013 and a volunteer assistant with USA Volleyball, where he worked with the men's and women's teams (2012), and alongside two-time Olympic gold and silver medal coach Hugh McCutcheon.
Lundgren also served as an assistant for the California Baptist men's volleyball team in 2011, helping the Lancers to a NAIA national championship. His coaching ability earned him national recognition on the AVCA's 30 Under 30 list, tabbing him as one of the 30 top up-and-coming coaches in the country.
Lundgren is the current commissioner of the Southern California Collegiate Volleyball League, and as part of his duties, he organizes the league for over 40 men's and women's college clubs in Southern California. In spring 2013, he was also an assistant coach with the women's Irvine Valley College sand volleyball team, aiding head coach Tom Pestolesi in winning the Intercollegiate Sand Volleyball Conference State Championship.
