Heather Bertrand, Ed.

Assistant Professor of Education

Heather has been working in the field of special education for over 17 years. Her experience includes mild/moderate and moderate/severe classroom instruction, assessment, and developmental support. She is certified in Early Childhood Special Education. 

Heather is a 4th-year faculty professor with the School of Education where she teaches pre-service special education teacher certification coursework. Her areas of expertise include UDL, MTSS, and language acquisition for students with disabilities and English Language Learners. She is a certified Trauma-Informed Practices trainer for educators and a certified assistive technology support provider. Heather is set to complete her doctoral dissertation in the summer of 2021 which focuses on trauma-informed training supports for novice special education teachers.
