Where are you from?
I'm from Chicagoland area, also known as the Windy City. However, I must say I'm enjoying the San Diego climate and scenery.
What were your favorite involvements in college and why?
My favorite involvement in college was being a part of the prayer and praise devotion group. I grew spiritually closer to God and was able to share fellowship with others. I also enjoyed being a part of the Spanish Club, where I learned more about Latino culture while developing my Spanish speaking skills. Our weekly meetings included tasting diverse foods and building culturally diverse relationships.
What's a word or phrase that describes you?
A phrase that describes me would be "fearless," because I'm always up for the challenge. I've overcome many of my fears — most recently, my fear of heights as I ziplined over mountains in Costa Rica.
What do you look forward to the most about visiting Central Cal? What about LA?
When I travel to Los Angeles I look forward to eating at my favorite restaurant, Portillos. It was originated in the Chicagoland area and allows me to enjoy a piece of home (without the snow) right here in California. When in Central Cal I'm most looking forward to visiting the Sequoia National Parks. It's such a beautiful view and definitely a changeup for this Chicago city girl.
What piece of advice would you give to someone who's choosing a college?
My advice for a student looking for the perfect college would be to choose the college that meets their needs individually. Look at the college from every angle, such as academics, social life, and community. Also, plan college visits to learn more about the programs that are offered. Don't be afraid to ask questions and talk to current students to learn more about their perspectives of the college.
