Dr. Mark Maddix, dean of the School of Theology & Christian Ministry and Professor of Practical Theology. He served in full-time ministry before entering into Christian higher education. He is deeply passionate about helping students grow in their knowledge of Scripture and spiritual growth. Maddix teaches ministry-related courses such as Introduction to Ministry and Formation, The Christian Gathering (Worship), Church and Mission, and Pastoral Leadership. He teaches at seminaries and Bible colleges around the world, and according to Maddix, these experiences help him to be more global in his understanding of God's mission in the world. He has written several books including Discovering Discipleship and Practicing Christian Education. He is a regular contributor to the Christian Education Journal and the Wesley Theological Journal. He is the former president of the Society of Professors of Christian Education. He and his wife, Sherri, have two adult children and a dog named Finley. They enjoy traveling, going to the beach, and watching basketball.
