Assistant Athletic Trainer

Pami Young is an adjunct professor in the Department of Kinesiology at PLNU. She serves primarily as the assistant athletic trainer for the women's volleyball and men's baseball teams, but additionally teaches in the undergraduate program and supervises students in the athletic training clinic. Her passion for teaching stems from her desire to engage students in their process of learning and growing in their respective fields of study. Young's areas of expertise lie in the evaluation and assessment of upper extremity injuries as well as evidence-based rehabilitation and treatment of sport-related injuries.

Areas of research interest:

  • The influence of muscle stiffness in subacromial impingement syndrome in the overhead athlete. Evidence-based practice for the rehabilitation of sport-related concussions. Student development and engagement in the clinical and classroom settings and their relationship to performance outcomes and self-reported measures of satisfaction.
