Professor Jerry Arvin has been employed by the university for 34 years, the past 28 as full-time assistant professor. Helping people understand the benefits of a healthy and optimal lifestyle as well as promoting the sports of cross country and track and field is what he enjoys.

Professional and Community Involvement
- Serves as the head coach for women’s track and cross country.
- A long history of success at PLNU, beginning in 1994, when after just one season running the program, he was named GSAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year and NAIA Far West Region Women’s Coach of the Year. Following the 2002 GSAC meet, he was named as Men’s Co-Coach of the Year and in 2005 and 2009, he was selected as Women's Coach of the Year.
- During his tenure at PLNU, he has led one of the most successful track and field teams on the west coast. He was named GSAC Men's Coach of the Year in 1995, 1998, and 2002, and GSAC Women's Coach of the Year in track and field from 1997 to 2000 and again in 2004, 2005, and 2007. He was also selected as NAIA Far West Region Women's Coach of the Year in cross country in 1994, and was selected as one of seven NAIA Regional Coaches of the Year in women's track and field for 1999, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008.
- In 1999, he was honored with induction into the PLNU Athletic Hall of Fame for Outstanding Achievement as Coach.
- A standout runner at Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, he continued his running career at Greenville College in Illinois, where he is now a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
- He lives in San Diego and has two daughters, Christy Schneider and Allison Rainey, both graduates of PLNU. Jerry has five grandchildren: Andrew, Abigail, Alexander Luke, Charlee, and McKinlee.
