PLNU Cultural Events: Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) Ambassadors Chorale Arts Society
The AUP Ambassadors has been one of the most active choirs in the Philippine music setting, performing at major venues all throughout the Philippines and outside the country including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand and major cities in the US and Canada. The Chorale has won local and international awards making them one of the Philippines’ notable choral groups. Tuesday, September 14th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. No ticket is required. PLNU Cultural Events: Ruta Bloomfield, harpsichord – The Music of Versailles
On February 19th, 2009, Ruta Bloomfield became the first person to perform the Premier livre de pieces de clavecin (which is translated as the first book of harpsichord pieces) outside of France since the eighteenth century. Bloomfield will present the same historic performance of harpsichord music on September 17th, 2010 in Crill Performance Hall.. She will perform previously inaccessible music of Bernard de Bury, the king’s harpsichordist at Versailles in the 18th Century. Dr. Bloomfield will perform the suites on her William Dowd French double harpsichord which was based on a mid-18th-century model by Paul Taskin. Bloomfield performs in period costume. Tickets are $12 for students seniors and military and $15 for other adults. PLNU students, faculty and staff attend for free.

Tina Sayers, soprano, in faculty recital: “Poetry and Song” with Brenda Martin, piano; Jo Clemmons, mezzo soprano, and Karl Martin, poetry.
This recital allows the listener to enjoy the text of the songs in addition to the music. Friday, October 1st at 7:30 pm in Crill Performance Hall. Admission is free. No ticket is required.

A Hot Night of Cool: The PLNU Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble
This concert was such a success last year that the PLNU jazz ensembles decided to perform together again. Friday, October 8th at 7:30 pm in Crill Performance Hall. Admission is free. No ticket is required.

PLNU Cultural Events: Päivikki Nykter, violin, with Paul Kenyon, piano.
A native of Finland, Päivikki Nykter is a graduate of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. She has held positions in many orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic and has appeared as a guest artist in several international music festivals. She has maintained her passion for new music, premiering numerous works written for her, and has worked with a number of notable contemporary composers. She was Artist-in-Residence at the UCSD Music Department from 1994 to 2006. She is accompanied by PLNU Faculty member Paul Kenyon. Tuesday, October 12th at 7:30 pm in Crill Performance Hall. Admission is $12 for students, seniors and military and $15 for other adults. PLNU faculty, staff and students are free with a PLNU ID.

PLNU Cultural Events: Ian Hominick, piano
Mr. Hominick has established a solid reputation as a first-rate pianist and one of today's most popular artists. His performances help to bridge the gap between performer and audience causing one newspaper critic to write ... "Despite his many successes, Ian Hominick remains a very down-to-earth, approachable individual, an attribute which makes him an excellent teacher and an informative performer." Sunday, October 31st at 3:00 pm in Crill Performance Hall, The Cooper Music Center. Tickets are $12 for students, faculty, staff, seniors and military and $15 for other adults.

College of Arts & Sciences
PLNU students and faculty are constantly performingfor and interacting with the larger community. Our Concert Choirand Concert Bandtour to churches and other venues within our region, Point Loma Singers, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Bandhave performed for many church and community groups, our Choral Unionand University Orchestrahave performed Handel’s Messiah for thousands, and school groups have been audiences for performances of opera and musical theater. In addition, our distinguished faculty continue to present master classes and workshops to local, regional and national groups.
