We are tallying the Grass Votes and will let you know the results very soon. Thanks for voting!

Grass spaces on campus are often disputed, so we want to give you the chance to vote to keep or change them to water friendly plants. Here’s the good, the bad and the ugly:

Grass

• Provides a nice place to sit
• Cools the area temperature
• Can grow well in San Diego
• It is hard to mow slopes can pose a safety hazard to our gardeners
• Uses a lot of water

Native or Water Conserving Plants

• Add color or dimension to a flat landscape
• Cool the area, but not as significantly as grass
• You cannot walk or sit on plants
• Use 30-50% less water than turf grass
• Are less maintenance

Each survey # correlates with the posted area sign on campus, so please check out areas before voting.

You can vote for one or all areas.
