The Mission of Residential LifeThe Mission of the Office of Residential Life is to provide a living learning environment in which the mission of PLNU is maximized. Our primary function is to ensure a challenging yet supportive place to live. Residence hall living can be the strongest impetus to healthy personal growth that is essential to the university experience and the future. Because of our commitment to "provide higher education in a vital Christian community," Point Loma Nazarene University takes great care in structuring an environment to achieve that goal. The strength of this environment depends upon the integrity of the individuals within the community. Students represent Point Loma Nazarene University wherever they go and in whatever they do. In such a community, the lifestyle expectations are a direct reflection of the group focus. Every policy is designed to promote a campus environment where Jesus is Lord. The lifestyle expectations stated in this section are fully explained in the official "Statement of Policy and Regulations". The basic guidelines are given to provide a broad picture of the Point Loma Nazarene University environment in which all students are a part upon acceptance to the University.
The Point Loma Nazarene University community is expected to do the following:
- Endeavor in all ways to grow closer to God
- Respect the rights and property of others at all times
- Relate to others in a courteous and positive manner
- Seek to do good to those who are less fortunate
- Maintain a high degree of personal integrity and honesty
- Dress with common sense and personal discretion in Christian simplicity and modesty
