Point Loma faculty model research-based, best practices in teaching, counseling, and educational leadership. They review the prior knowledge, skills, and dispositions that candidates start with and help them set goals for professional transformation requiring immediate application of educational principles in the school setting.

3-In-depth Advising and Whole Person Development


Highly competent and caring advisors develop and routinely monitor relevant program plans for candidates in ALL programs that address their academic, social-emotional, and spiritual needs, interests, and learning styles. In harmony with a challenging, standards-aligned curriculum, candidates are supported in developing and refining key dispositions of noble, Christ-like character throughout their course of study.

4-Class Schedules from the Candidate's Perspective


Class schedules for ALL programs at ALL locations are developed with the diverse population of candidates in mind. These candidates include—

  • undergraduates blending credential coursework with other B.A. requirements,
  • recent post-B.A. graduates desiring a full-time intensive program,
  • change of career interns working under contract while completing a credential,
  • educators working full-time and pursuing educational and career advancement,
  • former educators re-entering the educational field after raising children and 
  • private and charter school teachers who need credential renewal and educational advancement and more.

Point Loma faculty and staff at ALL locations work as a cohesive team to support ALL candidates in ALL programs. Follow-up studies and strong alumni networks keep graduates connected to their Point Loma family.
