Dean's Welcome....

Barb Taylor, PhD, RNThank you for visiting the Point Loma Nazarene University School of Nursing website! Point Loma Nazarene University has a wonderful academic history and it’s exciting to be growing into the 21st century. The School of Nursing (SON) is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Our graduates are highly sought out in the San Diego community and throughout the world as their lives and careers expand.

The Christian aspect of the curricula and the spirituality of our students, fits perfectly with the fine-tuned skills they take with them into their professional lives. The SON faculty care about their students and take seriously their role as advisors throughout the challenges facing each nursing major. The relationships developed are genuine and lasting.

In 2002, we began our Master of Science in Nursing program with an emphasis on the education role of the nurse with four Clinical Nurse Specialist options in Med/Surg, Mental Health, Family and Geriatrics. While there is a critical shortage of nurses in the United States, there is an even more critical shortage of qualified nurse educators to prepare the next generation of nurses. Our graduate program is assisting with meeting this need.

I invite you to also visit Campus Life at Point Loma to experience more of the exciting and fun experiences of college life here at the Point. And to also contact us to make arrangements for your visit to tour Point Loma Nazarene University and the School of Nursing.
