Young Hall houses 192 men, over 55% of whom are freshmen; the remainder being mostly sophomores. We house a very small number of juniors and seniors, these being either: hall leadership, special circumstance, or by application.
Young is arranged in a "unit" or "pod" type floor plan. Each floor, there are four, has four units, one in each corner, each unit has its own bathroom. The number of rooms vary from unit to unit but all our rooms house either three or four students and most of the units house thirteen students total. Our living arrangement is the most unique on campus, a situation that's mirrored in our hall culture and attitude.
Young Hall is the closest hall on campus to the ocean. We have a basketball court, sand volleyball pit, bonfire pit, and multiple areas for study and recreation.
Mission Statement
Young Hall will be a Christian brotherhood which fosters the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of the student and develops a sense of honor and respect in a context of inescapable love and vital passion
Hall Verse
Young Hall has two verses that we feel apply to who we are and who we strive to be.
The First:
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:16-18
This verse encapsulates the experience of living in community where we become better individuals through our interactions with each other.
The Second:
"Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example in speech, life, love, faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12
This verse is a challenge to our residents to live up to a higher standard and to set a positive trend on campus, to be positive tone-setters and examples.
