Application Process

Application Checklist:


  1. Graduate application - All prospective graduate students are required to complete an application.
    Complete the graduate application for admission online.
  2. $50.00 Graduate Application Fee  - Through the online application process you are able pay online or you have the option of mailing in a check or money order payable to "Point Loma Nazarene University" directly to our Graduate Admissions Office at the Mission Valley Regional Center.
  3. Academic Transcripts - Official transcripts showing completion of a baccalaureate and, if applicable, a higher-level degree from an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting association with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or higher (with the exception of the Master of Ministry requiring a cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 or higher). Please have academic transcripts mailed directly to our Graduate Admissions Office at the Mission Valley Regional Center. Please note that some degrees have program-specific requirements regarding transcripts. You can find program-specific transcript requirements on your degree program page.
  4. Two Letters of Recommendation - Please download and print the program-specific recommendation form listed below. Have your recommenders send the completed and signed form to the Graduate Admissions Office at the Mission Valley Regional Center.

Biology - recommendation template.  

School of Business - please provide two professional letters of recommendation. Letters should be on letterhead and signed by a current or former supervisor or colleague.        

School of Education - recommendation template or you may provide two professional letters of recommendation. Letters should be on letterhead and signed by a current or former supervisor or colleague. 

School of Nursing - recommendation template.  

School of Theology and Ministry - recommendation template.

    5.   Program-specific Materials - You must check your degree program page for program-specific materials you will need to complete as part of their program requirements. Such materials can include essays, tests, and faculty interviews.

Please follow the general graduate application process found on this page in order to apply to a Graduate School at PLNU. In addition, you will need to complete any program-specific application requirements, which can be found on your degree program page.

Make sure that you check the Application Deadlines to be aware of important dates related to the graduate application process. In order to be considered for a graduate program you must complete all of the application materials by the appropriate deadline. Please contact a Graduate Enrollment Counselor at your Regional Center for specific program details.
