Colorado College Invitational Colorado Springs, CO

The PLNU Speech and Debate team attended two tournaments this past weekend. Two of our senior teams competed at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The rest of the teams competed in Pasadena, from whence we sprang. :-) The two teams in Colorado Springs each earned a sufficient win loss record to advance to double Octa finals, but missed advancing on the tie breaker of speaker points. It was the largest and most difficult tournament of the year but they represented the school well.
The bulk of the team, even without two of the Senior teams in Colorado did quite well. They won First Place Sweepstakes Awards for four year schools. All contributed towards this victory, but earning special recognition and awards were the following students:
Novice Parliamentary Debate:
Dominique Marino and Troy Funk - First Place Champions
Jennifer Castelli and David Purinton - Quarterfinalists
Junior Parliamentary Debate:
Sarah Barnes and Josh Cangelosi - Quarterfinalists
Chelsea Hettrick and Bradford Lindenmeyer - Quarterfinalists
Individual Awards:
Josh Cangelosi: Finalist Junior Impromptu
Jennifer Castelli: Finalist Novice Impromptu,
