Here are the results on how the PLNU Speech and Debate team did at Concordia this last weekend, October 6 & 7. The team came in First Place in Individual Events sweepstakes, earning more points for individual speeches than all the other schools. We won third place in debate sweepstakes after the tie breaker with the second place school, and in the overall sweepstakes category combining debate and individual events Pt Loma came in Second Place, narrowly beaten by University of the Pacific by one point. Special thanks to Melissa Lazaro, Ashleigh Livingston, Lindsay Diederichs and Tim Kamermayer for coaching and/or judging for this, our first full service tournament of the year.

Amber Briggs - 4th Place Novice Prose,

Brandon Walsh - 1st Place Novice Persuasion, Semi Finalist Novice Impromptu

Caitlyn Burford - 2nd Place Open Extemp

Daniel Nadal - Semi Finalist in Open Extemporaneous Speaking, 6th Place Novice Persuasion,

David Kruckenberg - 6th Place Open Extemporaneous Speaking, 4th Place Open Informative

Grant Beeson - 5th Place Novice Prose

Katy Lucas - 4th Place Open Extemporaneous

Margaret Urfer - 3rd place Novice Informative (w/o a final round)


In Parliamentary Debate the following teams and individuals won awards or honors.

In Junior Debate Ian Sharples and John Walters won First Place.

In Senior Debate Pt Loma had two teams in the semi final rounds, Daniel Nadal and Jaimee Wanta, and Chris Gutierrez and Caitlyn Burford. UCSD beat University of the Pacific in the final round.
