REV. DR. JOHN POLKINGHORNE, noted physicist and theolgian from the United Kingdom, will be guest speaker for the  2010-11 H. Orton Wiley Lecture Series.  The series entitled, The Search for Truth in Science and Theology, will take place on November 15 - 17, 2010 in Crill Performance Hall , located in the Cooper Music Building.

 Dr. Polkinghorne is a noted household name in the best of Christian academic inquiry, especially as it relates to the intersection of science and faith. As a theoretical physicist he played a significant role in the discovery of the smallest known particle - the "quark." In 1982 he was ordained within the Church of England and served as a perish minister for 5 years. He then returned to Cambridge to serve as Dean of the Chapel at Trinity Hall; and then later as President of Queen's College, Cambridge.  As well as being an accomplished author, Dr. Polkinghorne is a founding member of the Society of Ordained Scientists and the International Society for Science and Religion.
