February 2015 - "Coffee and Politics" with Mayor Faulconer’s Chief of Staff, Stephen Puetz, at the University Club in downtown San Diego. 

October 2014 - Documentary Viewing and Panel Discussion of “The Burden.” 
IPPS partnered with PLNU’s Office of Public Affairs and The Truman National Security Project to host a documentary screening of “The Burden,” a film about the relationship between fossil fuel dependence and national security. After the documentary, there was a panel discussion with Congressman Scott Peters, Andrea Marr with the Truman National Security Project, Nicole Capretz with the City of San Diego, Dr. Rosco Williamson with PLNU, and Dr. April Maskiewicz with PLNU.

September 2014 - Lecture and Discussion with Clara Long on “Migration and Violence in Central America."  

For this event, the Institute of Politics and Public Service partnered with the World Affairs Council of San Diego to bring Clara Long, a researcher with Human Rights Watch, to PLNU to discuss migration and violence in Central America.

April 2014 - "An Evening with the Personal Side of Public Service" with Donna Lucas (principal with Lucas Public Affairs in Sacramento and former deputy chief of staff to Governor Schwarzenegger, former CA press secretary for President George H.W. Bush, and former deputy press secretary for Governor Deukmejian), Ben Haddad (principal with California Strategies and former deputy chief of staff for Governor Wilson and former chief of staff for San Diego Mayor Susan Golding), and Katelyn Hailey (policy advisor to CA Senator Marty Block) at the University Club in downtown San Diego.

March 2014 - Insider Insights Seminar with Mindy Fletcher (partner with Crux Partners, a public affairs firm), Phil Rath (principal with Rath Miller, a public affairs firm), and Sterling McHale (policy advisor to County Supervisor Ron Roberts) at the University Club in downtown San Diego.

January 2014 - A great evening with Congressman Peters! Thanks to Jill Monroe and the Office of Public Affairs for partnering with the Institute of Politics and Public Service on this event. Here's to future events that challenge us to bring true civic dialogue back to university campuses.
