Amy Budd – Private Contractor/Spanish Translator
Amy Budd grew up as a missionary kid in Peru, South America, where she learned Spanish along with English. Her undergraduate education is in Psychology and she has almost completed her masters in Marital & Family Therapy. While in graduate school, she continues to tutor students in Spanish, do substitute teaching for high school Spanish, and translation. Ms. Budd has used her Spanish background in various positions and ministries throughout the years. The opportunities she has enjoyed most include inner city ministries, working for Shadow Mountain Community Church, and interpreting for missions trips to Latin America.
When Ms Budd’s love for psychology and counseling coincide with Spanish, she feels like she comes alive! The Lord has been so good to her by allowing her to have jobs that she never thought she could do. She is learning that her job is flexible and to go where God says go. Ms. Budd's desire is to work in ministry in Latin America and to continue to use her Spanish as she facilitates training for Christian leaders, counseling families in ministry, and translating material.
Cliff Albert – Program Director
Cliff Albert is the program director at Newsradio FM 96.7 and AM 600 KOGO. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcasting and Journalism. He has been a broadcast journalist for more than 25 years. Mr. Albert oversees the programming on two of the Clear Channel Radio’s premier news-talk radio stations. His news commentaries have won numerous local and national awards for journalism excellence. Along with his work on the radio, Mr. Albert serves as an adjunct professor at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Kevin Gillespie – CEO at the Law Offices of Kevin Gillespie
Kevin Gillespie is a partner and CEO at the Law Office of Kevin F. Gillespie. He graduated from Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University, and California State University Northridge. He has spent his career committed to the real estate industry. Mr. Gillespie primarily works in the areas of transactional practice buying, entitling, developing and selling commercial real property and businesses as an attorney, real estate broker, and principal throughout California. Mr. Gillespie strives to add value to his clients and business associates and to overlook problems in order to find the opportunity waiting to be discovered. He drafts clear contracts which promote economic goals of the parties, reduce contractual disputes, and preserve relationships.
Bettina Pedersen – Professor of Literature
Bettina Tate Pedersen is professor of literature and chair of the Literature, Journalism, and Modern Languages department at PLNU. She teaches nineteenth- and twentieth-century British literature, women writers, literary theory, and composition. She earned her MA at Temple University, Philadelphia and her Ph. D. at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is co-author/editor, with Allyson Jule, of Being Feminist, Being Christian (2006, pbk. 2008) and has published numerous essays on British and Canadian women writers, feminism, and teaching. She has also written for Christian Feminism Today. She is currently working on a book, Why Feminism Still Matters, and two personal memoirs.
Jim Trotter – Senior Sports Writer
Jim Trotter has been the Senior Writer at Sports Illustrated since 2007 after working 18 years for the San Diego Union Tribune, covering the San Diego Chargers. He was born in San Francisco and graduated from Howard University with a BA in Communications.
Jimmy Chang – Recruitment Manager
Jimmy Chang works as the manager of recruitment for Teach for America, a growing movement of leaders who work to ensure that kids growing up in poverty obtain an excellent education. The organization recruits committed recent college graduates and professionals of all backgrounds to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools. Mr. Chang graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA and BS in Public Health and Environmental Science.
Drew Schlosberg – Community and Public Relations Consultant
Drew Schlosberg is the co-founding partner of CTS Weekly, which provides on-line curriculum lessons to over 2,500 schools and youth serving programs. He is also the CEO of Drew Schlosberg & Associates, providing clients with community and public relations strategies, relationship marketing expertise, executive coaching, and event sponsorship procurement. He graduated from SDSU with both a BA in Journalism and an MS in Mass Communications.
Julianne Kelly Horner – Law Clerk
Julianne Kelly-Horner graduated summa cum laude from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2011 with a major in literature and a minor in writing. She is pursuing her J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law, where she is a member of the international moot arbitration team. She currently works as a Law Clerk for the U.S. Attorney's Office, where she drafts legal documents for constitutional claims. Also during law school, Julianne interned with the Family Justice Center, where she helped domestic violence victims obtain restraining orders. In the future, she plans to pursue a career as legal counsel to a federal agency.
Geoffrey T. Williams – Children’s Book Author
Geoffrey Williams is the author of numerous science-adventure books for kids. He got into writing for kids by first producing an audio tour of the San Diego Zoo which was sold through the Zoo’s gift shops. After seeing an exhibit featuring full-size, articulated dinosaurs, Mr. Williams decided to produce a tour of an imaginary zoo filled with dinosaurs which became “Dinosaur World,” the first in a series of books which take place in this “zoo.” The publisher wanted more and he was interested in writing more so he continued with books about subjects he loved such as astronomy, space travel, oceanography, entomology, etc. Mr. Williams is currently working on turning his series of books about saving endangered sea creatures into ebooks and audio books.
Judy Duarte – Author
Judy Duarte graduated from UC Irvine about the same time her oldest kids hit the teen years. Her determination to become a published author grew and she began focusing on creating poignant stories designed to touch a reader's heart. As she fine-tuned her writing style and learned her craft, she found herself writing the stories she liked to read. Stories about families, second chances, and true love. In creating her own happily-ever-after stories she took ordinary characters, put them in emotionally compelling situations, and forced them to grow. They learned, as she had, that when a door is closed, they must look for that open window. Ms. Duarte's unpublished stories won not only the coveted Emily (West Houston RWA Chapter) and Orange Rose (Orange County RWA Chapter) awards, but also earned her the status of a double RWA Golden Heart finalist in 2001.Then her dream became a reality in March 2002 when Silhouette Special Edition released her first book, COWBOY COURAGE. Since then, she has published seventeen books and is contracted to write three more. Her stories have touched the hearts of readers around the world. Her tales of redemption and renewed trust generate many fan letters from readers who tell her of the positive impact reading her stories have had in their lives. In July 2005, Judy won the prestigious Reader's Choice Award for THE RICH MAN'S SON.
Cory Verner – eChristian, Inc. Publishing Industry
Cory Verner is the President of eChristian, Inc. and Cofounder and Publisher of Christianaudio. Mr. Verner has been a member of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association since 2005. He earned a BA Degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside. Mr. Verner has held past positions of Interim Web Properties Manager for Outreach, Inc. and Sr. Web Project Manager and Business Analyst for Channelwave Digital River, Inc.
