The PLNU Speech and Debate Team finished the Fall semester by winning First Place Overall Sweepstakes in the 4 year college division at this past weekend's PSCFA Fall Championship (Friday 12/2-Sunday 12/4) hosted by Cerritos College.  This effort was helped a great deal by having 5 of our 6 teams entered in the Senior Division of Parliamentary Debate advancing to the Bronze Round.

One of those teams, Frank Daniel and Kasey Graves (both freshmen,) also won their Gold Round of competition and Frank was named 2nd speaker in the Senior Division.  This was just their first time in the Senior Division of Parliamentary Debate. Frank also won a Gold in Lincoln Douglas Debate for the Senior Division, and won Third Place Speaker in Junior Extemporaneous Speaking.  Not a bad weekend for a first semester Frosh.

But Frank was not alone in noteworthy accomplishments.  Here are the PLNU results from the tournament

Although it is perhaps a bit late for thanksgiving, we wanted to extend a special thanks to the members of the Point Loma community that make it possible for this team to compete in such an academically rich learning environment, including faculty, staff, administration, and alumni members who not only support us financially, but also with their time and expertise in judging and coaching.  We appreciate this opportunity you afford us. We are looking forward to the return in the Spring of some of our more experienced team members from their semester abroad experiences this Fall, and we are excited about the many potential recruits we have speaking with recently for next year.
