Raisin Center Invitational CSU Fresno / Ramada

The competitive season for forensics started off with a bang! The Point Loma Speech and Debate team won First Place Sweepstakes Honors this weekend (9/20-9/22/02) at our first tournament of the year. We were competing against almost 40 colleges and universities from throughout the state of California at Fresno State University. 4 Year competitors included traditional rivals such as Berkeley, Cal State Long Beach, the Claremont Colleges, USC, SDSU, UCSD, etc., as well as other Christian colleges like Biola and Azusa Pacific.
Each of our students competed in debate and individual events. We are especially excited about some of our incoming freshmen and transfer students that contributed heavily to this team win. Our 14 students learned a great deal from the excellent competition and earned over 30 trophies. Special thanks go out to Prof. Kathleen Czech for her hard work with the team.
