Child Development

Department of Family and Consumer Sciences

Do you love children? Are you fascinated by human development and relationships? Consider a major in child development!

Child development explores the ways children grow and form relationships. Physical, social, and intellectual growth is charted through various methods designed by psychologists, based particularly on observation and analysis. For those who want to work with children or on their behalf, child development can provide the perfect foundation.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at PLNU offers a major in child development. The program includes courses in nutrition, health, psychology, parenting, family and community relationships, and other relevant areas. If you choose to major in child development, you will have the added benefit of working for our on-campus laboratory preschool.
