Whether you want to end up as a designer, as a buyer, in marketing, or in the fashion industry in another capacity, fashion merchandising can prepare you for your future in the fashion world. You will learn about different fabrics, the history of the fashion industry, how to predict trends, and how to anticipate consumer needs and preferences.
PLNU’s Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers a concentration in fashion merchandising within the consumer and environmental sciences major. The concentration offer courses in apparel construction, the fashion industry, fashion computer-aided design, apparel in human behavior and culture, textile sciences, marketing, and management. The faculty is committed to developing and maintaining a close relationship with the students in the department.
